Guidelines and Requirements
MTAC Sacramento County Branch Memorial Scholarship Recital
Date and Time: Sunday, May 18th, 2025, from 1pm - 4pm
Location: Music Exchange, 1537 Howe Avenue Unit 206, Sacramento, CA 95825
MSR Winners’ Soiree (Command Performance): Sunday, June 8th, at 7pm at a home in McKinley Park.
Application Deadline: April 18th, 2025
Application is available online at https://www.sacramentomtac.org/memorial-scholarship-registration. Proof of age must be shown at the time of check-in.
Entry Fee
$36 per student for all divisions. If participating as a group, each student pays a $36 fee.
Students will be redirected to pay the fee on our website after submitting their registration form.
They must pay the fee online—other forms of payment or payment from teachers will not be accepted.
Eligibility
An MTAC Sacramento County teacher may enter a maximum of three entries per division.
Repertoire
Equivalent to CM Level 5 and up.
Students must bring one original music score with numbered measures for the evaluator.
The same composition may be used in only ONE of the following recitals: Baroque Festival Honors Certificate Recipient, Memorial Scholarship.
Time Limits
Division I (ages 11 and under): 8 minutes
Division II (ages 12 to 14): 10 minutes
Division III (ages 15 to 18): 10 minutes
For chamber ensembles, the average age of the players must be within the Division age range.
Awards
Division I: $100
Division II: $150
Division III: $200
Up to three monetary awards can be awarded per division at the discretion of the adjudicator. The decision of the adjudicator is final.
Past winners will not be eligible to win again in the same division.
Event Format
This event will be held in a recital format, with one adjudicator evaluating.
Each recital will last approximately one hour.
The recital is open to the public.
All winners of the event are invited to perform at a Soiree (Command Performance) on Sunday, June 8th, at 7pm at a beautiful McKinley Park home.
Dress Code
Attire:
Knee-length dresses, skirts, or dress slacks with an appropriate top.
Dress slacks with a tucked-in, buttoned, collared shirt or sweater.
Coat and/or tie optional.
Not Allowed: jeans, cargo pants, shorts, workout clothes, sports uniforms, t-shirts, tank tops, bare midriffs, or tops that are low cut, backless, or strapless.
Shoes:
Dress shoes.
Not Allowed: athletic shoes, sneakers, casual sandals, flip-flops.
Additional Requirements:
Neat, clean hair, pulled back from the face.
Short nails.
Students who do not adhere to the dress code will not be allowed to perform.
